In Chapter 21, Twain shows how people are just as he says they are in “On the Damned Human Race.”  In the essay, he says people are cruel — they hurt each other just for the fun of it.  In Chapter 21, he shows this in action.The first place you can see this is in the way the loafers think it is funny to make the dogs go and attack the pigs.  They are hurting the pigs just to amuse themselves.The second place you see it is in the Sherburne-Boggs incident.  Sherburne killed Boggs not for any good reason, but just because he could and because he wanted to.  This is like the people that Twain talks about in the essay who kill each other for no reason when put in the cage together.
