Concerning contact between Europe and Africa shaping African literature, I can address one aspect of the issue for you.Post-colonial literature is, as you may be able to tell by the name, defined by the relationship between Europe and Africa.  It is written by writers from countries that once were, but no longer are, colonies.  The literature is born out of the aftermath of colonialism.  Obviously, then, much recent African literature is post-colonial.Two of the more well-known writers of post-colonial literature are Chinua Achebe and Ngugi.
