Without a doubt John Stuart Mill would have concurred in full with the opinion of Sandra Day O’Conner in the landmark case of Planned Parenthood v. Casey, 1992. Mill was an important figure in liberal political philosophy. He opposed a tyrannical government and unlimited state control. His concept of liberty and the inherent rights of women justified and made possible the freedom of the individual.Sandra Day O’Conner as a Supreme Court Justice had a long track record of being an advocate of women’s rights. She did make minor changes in Roe v. Wade, but these were ancillary and did not change the ruling, nor did she dissent. Justice O’Conner supported the fundamental right to abortion as it is protected by the Due Process Clause of the 14th Amendment.
