I think what you are referring to with him being victimized is in Act IV.  In that act,he tells us that his niece, Abigail Williams, has run off.  Worse than that, she seems to have stolen all his money.  He says he is now penniless.Parris wants to postpone the trials because he is afraid that the people of the town might start to rebel.  He points out that there has already been something of a rebellion in Andover and he is afraid it will happen in Salem too.  If this happens, he fears that people will turn against him.
