How does Pony’s relationship with his brothers change over time?

Pony’s relationship with his brothers (and especially with Darry) really changes over the course of the book.  To be specific, it becomes a much more mature relationship — one in which the brothers really understand each other. At the beginning, Pony sees Darry only as an authority figure who (he thinks) is too hard on him.  But as the book goes on, Pony starts to understand Darry as a person.  He comes to understand the pressures that Darry feels because of his responsibility for his brothers. This helps him understand Darry more as an equal and less as an authority figure to resent.
