The CDPA is another article established in through the Parliament in the UK which is the equivalent of the American systems of patent and copyrights. The Act is meant to protect literary, artistic, musical, and other graphic creations made by individuals under the premise that, should there be a breach and plagiarism occur, the person doing the crime should get criminally punished, and the artist or creator protected.This Act also applies to educational material which should not be copied nor reproduced in schools even if it is for an academic purpose without the direct consent of the person who produced the information.To the regular individual, these clarifications may sound redundant, but this Act did not show up until 1957, which signifies that the concept of copyright and protecting original work has not been widely thought of until mid 20th century.A student working on IT has a hard challenge ahead, because in the field of computer applications many programs and program threads have been used by different people not in aims to copyright, but to diversify an existing product. For example, someone designing a game might take the code from another game maker to design a completely different game with the same concept. Thus, since codes are so complex and delicate, one might be doing a complete replica of a program without even attempting to, and may get so involved in the production of the game (for example) that no credit is given to the original person from whom the basic code was obtained.This will be significant and means that all IT students who create signature work MUST at all times patent or copyright their codes before they can be replicated and used in other concept works. If possible, IT students should maintain a portfolio showing a continuous body of work with all codes and creations stored in a safe place, with a potential copyright for those which are most complex, and ready to pay for the full rights of their own creation before someone uses part of it to create something bigger. In the IT field, the big fish is really big, and the small is really small, so there is especial importance placed in the way students have to start protecting what is theirs.
